Empowering Recovery Through Our Barista Training Program

The Barista Training Program (BTP) at Everett Recovery Café empowers our Members to reclaim their professional career paths. This strengths-based initiative provides in-demand vocational skills while boosting self-confidence and workplace readiness.

Specifically, it supports those navigating recovery from trauma, substance use, or mental health challenges.

How the Barista Training Program Works

We designed the Barista Training Program exclusively for Café Members. In particular, our team prioritizes individuals with significant employment gaps or those seeking a fresh start in the workforce. Because Members learn a specialized trade, they gain the stability needed for long-term recovery.

  • Duration: We offer flexible 6-week or 8-week courses depending on the learner’s pace.
  • Schedule: Classes run Monday through Friday. Consequently, trainees and instructors collaborate to create a schedule that respects other recovery commitments.
  • Eligibility: The program remains open to all Café Members. You can join via a staff referral or by making a direct inquiry.
  • Requirements: We require a brief application to confirm your commitment and active involvement in the Café community.

Comprehensive Culinary and Service Training

During this professional barista training, Members gain hands-on experience through a structured, supportive curriculum. Furthermore, we focus on four core pillars of success:

  • Technical Skills: Students master equipment operation, precise beverage preparation, and portion control for high-quality results.
  • Maintenance: Trainees learn the importance of station hygiene and long-term equipment care.
  • Practical Experience: During the final two weeks, participants take the lead with solo station operations to build real-world confidence.
  • Professional Growth: In addition to making coffee, our curriculum emphasizes dependability, clear communication, and quick decision-making.

Graduation, Resumes, and Beyond

Completing the Barista Training Program marks a major milestone. Once finished, graduates receive an official Certificate of Achievement to celebrate their progress. Additionally, our instructors provide one-on-one resume-building assistance. We ensure your new skills stand out so you can jumpstart your job search and secure a living-wage position.

Our Partners in Workforce Development

Community partners make our professional vocational training possible. For instance, we are deeply grateful for the support of Caffé D’arte Coffee Roasters, who provide our beans and materials.

Similarly, we thank Diedrich Espresso for providing our professional grinder and espresso machine. Their investment in our Members creates real transformation.
