Kitchen Training Program

Everett Recovery Café’s Kitchen Training Program (KTP) is a key resource for getting our Members back into the work force. This program serves to teach Members how to properly use, care for, and clean kitchen equipment. It also develops cooking skills by teaching proper food preparation technique, menu planning, and making recipes.

Café Kitchen Manager James Lee talks about the Kitchen Training Program

The Program

The KTP program is designed exclusively for Café members. The program provides training for an in-demand job that can put Members into the workforce quickly.

  • Schedule – This program is 8-weeks long, Monday through Friday. The trainee and the course instructor collaborate to determine the training schedule.
  • Participation – Only Café Members can participate. Up to 8 participants are involved in an 8-week cycle. Each participant works for 1 or 2 days during the week, 9am – 12:30pm.
  • Developing a Menu – As kitchen skills are built, participants will develop a menu from scratch to serve to Members during lunch.

Completion

Upon completion of this program, Members will receive a well-deserved certificate of completion acknowledging the skills they’ve learned. Everett Recovery Café has developed a relationship with local staffing agencies who will prioritize KTP graduates for job openings. Members can build a resume and go to these agencies to seek a position.
