You know the feeling. It’s a warmth that floods your body with those first couple of spoonfuls of a delicious hot soup. It’s that unmistakable feeling of comfort and wellbeing. That’s why lunch at Everett Recovery Café is as an essential component of our recovery support services. Focusing on wellness, balanced nutrition and social interaction, the meals we prepare and serve create a foundation for healthy moods, mental clarity, and emotional stability for our Members.
At the Café, the nutrients in our soups and salads fill bellies, certainly, as well as delivering nutritional links known to reduce depression and anxiety, combat stress, support mental health, and stabilize moods. Our balanced meals support the beneficial growth of gut bacteria, and fiber to help stabilize blood sugar levels.
Consider cabbage, a staple you’ll find in our soups and salads. Cabbage is filling, low in calories, dense in vitamins C and K, crucial for heart health and bone strength. Add to that, it’s extremely cost effective. The Café’s kitchen manager, James, is extremely proud of his ability to create soups chock full of cabbage, fresh garden veggies, and protein options that not only keep our members fed, but it also keeps them socially connected and better able to pursue their recovery efforts. Balanced nutrition, and social interaction are the bedrock of why the Café’s 19,000 meals, served annually, are the reason we say there’s love in the soup.
